roam Subreddit + Community-Led Events
Hey friends!
Welcome to another edition of our newsletter, brought to you by the growth team at roam! We're here with exciting updates and can’t wait to share what’s new in the world of roam.
From launching our brand-new subreddit to highlighting incredible events, this week’s edition is packed with useful and fun content. Whether you're a long-time follower or a newcomer, we’re thrilled to have you with us. Let’s dive right in!
Launching r/roam_college 🚀
We are excited to announce the new roam subreddit!
r/roam_college will be a moderated platform for our community to ask any questions regarding our marketplace, partners, and services we offer.
It will also be a helpful resource for international students in the U.S. to get their queries answered.
The subreddit will complement our existing WhatsApp and Telegram communities. Since important messages can often get lost in online communities, this subreddit will serve as a permanent point of contact to all.
We believe this will make our community more accessible and beneficial for everyone. But we can’t do it without YOU!
We invite you to join the conversation on our subreddit. Feel free to ask any questions and help others by sharing your knowledge. Let’s make this a community-led venture :)
Please share this new resource with your friends to help us spread the word!
Event Coverage 🧺
roam picnic on 9/13/2024 📍 Central Park, NY
On September 13th, we hosted a cozy picnic in Central Park, offering international students a much-needed break from the early semester rush. It turned out to be the perfect afternoon for us to come together, share experiences, and unwind with some pizza and donuts. With the fall semester kicking into gear, we wanted to create a space where students could step away from the hustle, take in the beauty of the city, and meet others who are on the same journey.
For many, this was the first chance to connect outside of the classroom and really start forming friendships in their new home. The atmosphere was relaxed, filled with easy conversations, laughter, and the feeling of being surrounded by others who truly understand the challenges of settling into a new country. By the end of the afternoon, new bonds were formed, and students walked away knowing they had a growing community around them.
This event reinforced our mission at Roam—to foster connections and build a supportive space for international students. Whether through casual meetups like this or larger events, we’re committed to helping international students feel at home.
We want you all to leave our events feeling like you’re not alone—that there's a community around you, ready to support you. We’re excited to keep the momentum going with more community-focused events, and we can’t wait to see you at the next one!
Event Spotlight 🪩
We're excited to introduce a new section in our newsletter dedicated to promoting events that our community members are hosting across the U.S.
At roam, one of our main goals is to build a strong community. We do this through online resources like our subreddit and through fun in-person gatherings like our parties and picnics. We also want to support you in sharing your events with the world!
Are you hosting an event for international students in the U.S.? We would love to help you promote it. Write us an email at [email protected] with details and we will be in touch :)
